Shutters made to your measurements. Fitted by you.
Measure your windows, design each shutter online, and we build them to order and ship them to your door anywhere in the US and Canada. Prefer not to fit them yourself? We’ll point you to an independent installer.
How it works
Measure
A tape measure and about ten minutes a window. The guide shows exactly where to measure.
Design
Choose material, louver size, tilt rod and layout for each window, and see it drawn as you go.
We build
Every shutter is made to order. We check your sizes and confirm the layout with you first.
You fit
The frame screws into the window opening and the panels lift onto their hinges.

One wood: American poplar
Every Shutter Boys shutter is made from premium American poplar, a hardwood that grows across the eastern United States.
Poplar has a fine, even grain, which is why it’s long been used for painted moulding, trim and interior doors: paint goes on smooth and holds.
It can be stained too. Its natural colour varies from creamy to greenish, so a stain shows more variation from louver to louver than paint does.

Questions people ask first
Do I need special tools to fit them?
No. Most people use a drill, a screwdriver, a level and a tape measure. Each order ships with instructions for the frame you chose.
What if I get a measurement wrong?
We check every order before it goes into production and contact you about any size that doesn’t add up, like a width that changes a lot from top to bottom. If a shutter arrives and doesn’t fit, contact us before you cut or force anything.
How long does an order take?
Your quote shows the production and shipping time for your order before you pay anything.
Can someone install them for me?
Yes. Ask on your quote and we’ll tell you which independent installers work in your area. You arrange and pay the installer directly.
Are California shutters different from plantation shutters?
Mostly it’s the name. “California shutters” is common in Canada and “plantation shutters” in the US, and some sellers use one name for narrower louvers. We name the louver size on every order so there’s no guessing.
